Hello!!! My name is Kelli Best and it is great to meet you! I wanted to introduce myself to you. Bill and I currently serve as lead pastors at Bethlehem Chapel in Ephrata, WA. We have been here for the last eight years. I serve as the team leader for BONDED Women’s Ministry, serve on the worship team, and help teach the three and four year olds on Wednesday nights. Bill and I have been married for 28 years and both of us have our B.A. in Music Education from Evangel University. I was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. Bill and I have served in music ministry, associate ministry, and now as lead pastors for the last 28 years. We have served congregations in Missouri, Texas, Ohio, and Washington. Our oldest, Ashlee, currently serves as Administrative Assistant to the Children’s Director at the Network office and our youngest, Paige, is a freshman at Northwest University. With an empty nest, our lab/pointer mix, Piper, thinks life is very good as she receives all our attention!
My journey in women’s ministry began 41 years ago as I helped my mom set up Mother’s Day teas and various other women’s ministry functions in our church. She was the Women’s Ministry Coordinator and also Missionette Coordinator. I loved helping her make a beautiful space for women to gather, connect, and grow in Jesus and in their relationships with one another. Those early experiences watching her minister shaped my own ministry later in life.
I went on years later to work in the Women’s Ministry department at the national level for a year. What a hoot that was! I learned so many things from the ladies in that office, such as couponing and crocheting! Haha! The women working there were genuine and authentic with hearts completely dedicated to serving the women of our fellowship. My time there was brief, but rich.
From there, Bill and I moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and served two different churches before moving to northwest Ohio where we served two more congregations in ministry from music to associate pastors. Our journey to the Pacific Northwest began with relocating to Auburn for three years and then on to Ephrata, where we currently have served as lead pastors for eight years. Through every transition, I always found myself serving on the women’s ministry team of each church.
Now the funny part, when we arrived at Bethlehem Chapel in Ephrata, I was determined NOT to be involved in women’s ministry, let alone lead it! I made that very clear to God and also to the congregation when this question was posed to me during our initial interview at Bethlehem Chapel. Yes, I actually stood up in a Q and A session and verbalized my decision to not partake, or lead, the women’s ministry. You can imagine how long this lasted and how well that went over! Within 6 months, I was not only leading the ministry, but planning a retreat for the women of the church and loving it!
This new adventure for me is one I cherish because I can trace God’s hand in my life in a tangible way. I see exactly what He was doing all those years ago as I carefully placed tea cookies on trays and arranged napkins with my mom.
My dear friend, Angela, has done an outstanding job leading the last ten years. Her presence and influence will be greatly missed by the women of our wonderful network. It is upon her shoulders and those before her that we forge ahead and continue to build
Having said all of this, I want you to know that I am excited to begin and anxious all at the same time! My desire for the future and for the women of the NWMN is to see them continue to realize and embrace their full potential in Christ. I want women of all ages to know they are deeply loved by a God who sees them, who knows them, and loves them anyway!
We are planning a fantastic conference for you and I would ask that you keep this event in your prayers. My goal is to provide the women of our network with a quality conference where they meet with the Lord individually and corporately through dynamic worship and solid Biblical teaching. Details and plans are coming slower than normal because of the current changes taking place. However, I have no doubt that God is working out the details and going before us! Keep watching the website and Facebook for information and details concerning conference as well as a leadership training event for women’s ministry leaders next fall. I look forward to meeting you!
