There are sweet moments in life when you get to see a glimpse of God’s majesty. You can see it in the beauty of a sunrise, in the innocence of a child, in the covenant of marriage or in the selflessness of service. One of the most amazing majesties is in the moments of true collaboration. There is something beautiful about people gathered around a table brainstorming and vision-casting. What’s more beautiful is seeing those visions come to fruition months or even years later. The best ministries happen when there are multiple people giving input and bearing responsibility. God never designed us to do his work alone.

The first evidence of this is in the first chapter of the first book of the Bible. Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.””

God’s intention for us was to be like Him, in the trinity. In the creation of the world, and of us, we see God’s true character of collaboration in Himself, three in one.

If we were made in the image of God, we were made for collaboration. God modeled for us that the most beautiful creations come out of community, out of collaboration.

In the next chapter, God says “It is not good for man to be alone…” Gen 2:18 Could it be much clearer? There are few verses in the Bible that provide such a black and white approach to life. God never intended for us the be alone. Adam needed Eve because God created him to. We need encouragement, love and community from others because God made us that way.

Even in all of our sinfulness, negativity and personality flaws, we are still made to come together, to cast vision, to collaborate, to show a glimpse of God’s majesty.
