Interesting questions to ponder today! Earlier I was asked if I believed that I heard the call loud and clear from God to be a mother, principal, pastor, or anything for that matter.  Almost ashamedly I had to admit no! I do however believe that I am following my calling, but to be fully transparent, I believe that I stumbled on to it or at the very least someone identified it in me, way before I did.

masterpieceYou see, I was minding my own business in 1994, climbing the corporate ladder, barren and living a content life with my husband, when I received a call asking if we wanted a baby. “A baby? Maybe?” and 4 hours later I was a Mom, wa-lah. Then in 1998 again I was minding my own business, still climbing the corporate ladder when I received a call, sitting almost in the same place I had been 4 years ago, asking if I would like to be the principal of our Christian school. “a principal? No!” I laughed loudly. 30 days later I sat behind a desk in an office labeled principal. In 2000, I was again minding my own business when my pastor said, “I want you to get your pastors license.” “What? A pastor? I don’t know if we believe in women pastors!” (you can read that part of my story in my previous blog).

Was I called to those places? “Maybe, I don’t know, YES!” How do I know that, because Revelation 3:8a says that my God, “knows my works,” and “See, He has set before me an open door, and no one can shut it!” So I walked through it and experienced a love and passion that has never once been altered. So I can boldly say, “I am a Christ follower, following my calling.”

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

Calling Others? My own story challenges me to look for leaders who may be like me and not hear God loud and clear but need someone to see in them the leader that God is calling them to be and be an usher that helps to lead them through the door and maybe even give them a little push. You see sometimes our lives are lived so loudly that we cannot hear God when He is calling us out to something new and so we have to have someone help a little bit. That’s the kind of girl I want to be, ever watching for those God is calling and coming along side of them to help, to mentor, coach, disciple ~ call it what you want, and if you want join me in doing Matthew 28:22-23.
